Roberta Paixao Cortes
Roberta teaches Baptiste Yoga and her classes are inspired by the connection between mind and body that she felt during her very first practice of a Baptiste Power Vinyasa Yoga class. As someone that communicates through movement, she encourages her students to breathe and find their own power and beauty in each asana. Her classes are challenging, with a focus on breath, alignment, and honoring each student’s experience and needs.

Roberta is originally from Brazil, where she studied classical ballet. As a professional dancer, Roberta was always looking for ways to stretch and work out her body, and that is how she was introduced to yoga in 2005. She began her practice in Houston with Maria Merrill at YogaAnanda and later completed the RYT 200-hr YogaOne Immersion Teacher Training Course with Roger and Albina Rippy right here at YogaOne Studios in 2012. Recently, Roberta has completed level one, level two and level three training with the Baptiste Institute and have trained with Baron Baptiste and Paige Elenson. She is involved with Africa Yoga Project and will spend two weeks in Kenya in late May 2015 being of service, sharing and learning with this great organization in Africa. Roberta is a certified Baptiste Teacher, is a RYT200-hr (Registered Yoga Teacher), continues to dance professionally, learn every day from her teachers, students and from herself, and is really grateful for the power of yoga in her life and the opportunity to share that with others.
