Mike Thacker
Mike’s classes reflect his belief in the healing nature of yoga and emphasizes the coordinated movement of body and breath. He recognizes the benefits of moving to the point of discomfort and breathing into that space. There is always healing on the other side (both on and off the mat). Awareness, grounding, and being happy now are themes that resonate with Mike. In class, his students will have the opportunity to move beyond their edge and realize their power.
Mike is a native of Houston who travels frequently with his day job as an IT consultant. In 2000 he was introduced to yoga asanas as a way to increase strength and flexibility beyond what could be achieved through a tradition regiment of cardio-vascular and strength training. He quickly recognized the benefits of stillness and increased awareness, and emphasizes those points in all the classes he teaches. He began his journey as a yoga teacher by taking the Y1 Immersion with Roger and Albina. Since then he has taken several workshops/weekend intensives with Ana Forrest, Ricky Tran, and Les Leventhal. He has also completed Baron Baptiste’s Levels 1 & 2 and is working on his Baptiste certification.
